Keep Your Ride Looking Good

Spring is almost here. While you might be thinking about spring cleaning your home, now is the time to start planning a good spring cleaning for your car. Winter is really hard on vehicles. Salt, potholes and extreme temperatures can do a number on your car or truck. Not only will a clean car make summer road trips more pleasant, but it’s also a good way to protect your investment. If you plan to customize your truck, a good cleaning is a great first step. Here is a guide to getting your vehicle in tip-top shape for the spring.

#1 Remove Junk And Organize The Remaining Items

Start your spring cleaning by thoroughly clearing out the interior. Completely take out everything inside the car even under the seats. Separate it into three piles:

Trash – Sort out and throw away all trash.

Inside – Put everything in this pile that does not belong in your vehicle, like old mail and ponytail holders.

Vehicle – This pile is for everything that should be returned to your car, such as the manual, registration and insurance cards.

#2 Vacuum and Scrub Carpet and Upholstery

One way to keep your vehicle looking new is by taking good care of your carpets. Start by thoroughly vacuuming all carpets and upholstery. Use a small brush to get under and in-between the seats. After you have vacuumed the interior, use a carpet shampooer to cleaning the carpets, seats and other upholstery. If your carpets or interior surfaces look faded or cracked, now would be a perfect time to install window film. Window film is a great way to customize your truck and add style to your vehicle. Window tint also helps protect your car or truck upholstery from the damaging rays of the sun.

#3 Clean the Windows

Dirty windows make it harder to see clearly out, which can be very unsafe. So, thoroughly clean the inside and outside of your windows. If you notice a problem with heat buildup in your car during the summer months, consider adding a clear protective film to your windows. You can customize your truck and add function too with a window tint. It will help prevent glare and keep the interior of your vehicle cooler during smoldering summer months.

#4 Wash and Wax the Exterior

Wash the exterior from top to bottom. Make sure that you get the under-body cleaned, as well. It might cost a few bucks extra but it is worth it. The under-body is often neglected, which is unfortunate as this area frequently harbors dirt and contaminants that can harm your car. If your headlights are foggy, then clean them with toothpaste. It is slightly abrasive, which will remove the film that often fogs up the plastic. Just put a little toothpaste on a cloth and rub it into each lamp cover. After cleaning everything really well, rinse repeatedly and dry thoroughly.
