What You Need to Know About Mirror Window Film

A popular trend in tinted windows right now is mirror window film, which offers a unique look while also providing protection from harmful UV rays. If you’ve been considering mirror window film, there are some things you need to know about it.

How it Works

Mirror window film works by creating a surface that somewhat resembles a mirror on the outside. This mirrored tint film reflects light at a 3:1 ratio, meaning the side on which the mirror is placed should be three times brighter than on the opposite side. When this amount of light ratio is maintained, the reflective window film will prevent people on the outside from seeing in.

The fact that window mirror film requires a 3:1 light ratio also means it is only effective during the daytime. As such, people will easily be able to see inside at night, which means you will probably want to have draperies or blinds installed if you wish to maintain your privacy during evening hours.

UV Reflection

Mirror film reduces approximately 80% of the sun’s harmful UV rays, so you can protect your car from sun damage. There are also reflective window films that contain a special coating on the inside that insulates against heat loss, making them effective at reducing your energy costs year-round. The fact that they reflect so many UV rays also means that:

● They will reduce glare significantly, making them especially nice for rooms with computers or television screens

● Fading of furniture and carpeting can be reduced significantly

● Occupants have a decreased risk of developing skin cancer

Curb Appeal

Mirrored window tint provides instant curb appeal to a building, thereby making it more attractive to potential buyers or tenants. The mirrored look is classic, and won’t easily go out of style either, so your investment will be as attractive years from now as it is today.

If you’re in the market for window film, one with a mirrored finish can be an excellent choice for all the reasons we’ve mentioned. Want to know more? If so, contact us.
