Give your windows a facelift with UV window film

UV rays can cause a lot of harm on skin and everything else they hit. They can cause skin problems ranging from mild ones such as sun burn and heat rash to potentially fatal ones like skin cancer. When they hit items such as clothes,  furniture, fabrics and furnishings, they cause them to fade and become worn. One way to deter the damaging effects of sun rays is with UV window film. Apart from reducing fading, film blocks out 99% of UV rays.

There are various kinds of UV window film. The different kinds of film deliver different levels of protection and they should be chosen according to the area where the film will be laid down such as in a room or a car. One type is solar control films which not only help to block UV rays but also help to control heat levels and to reduce glare and fading.

There are also safety and security window films. They can be used to be in compliance with building safety regulations and to enhance the security of a home or building. This film can also be used to childproof a home. Similar to this kind of film is privacy window film. These can be used in two different ways. There is high reflective silver which gives one way or daytime privacy which works with the prevailing light levels. Then there is frostbite or white matte frosted window films which give full-time regardless of the light levels.

Another type of UV window film is transparent colored film. Also known as rainbow window film, it can transform the color of the window but without blocking the view. This film can also be used to achieve lovely aesthetic effects by transforming the look of the glazing while letting in light through both directions and making it possible to still see the other side. This film comes in 20 colors. It is easily applied onto glass using soapy water after which it only needs to be trimmed to fit the frame using a sharp blade.

There is also the option of solid color window film which blocks out a window totally which makes it perfect for providing privacy or screening off a storeroom. It is available in over 20 colors and is always quickly applied with soapy water. It is important to note that dark colors are not the best for double glazed windows or laminated glass.

Tinted window film with smoked glass effect is another option if the desired result is a classic tinted appearance. Once it is applied, glare is reduced, heat is controlled, privacy is enhanced and a unique, lovely effect is created. This type of UV window film is  typically used on cars but it can be used in homes and commercial buildings.

To give windows an instant face lift, there are also films with decorative geometric patterns and stained glass effect window film which will refresh how your windows look by adding color to glazing and windows. It comes in different designs as well and it allows vision both ways. Lastly, there are colored frosted films that give windows the appearance of classic frosted glass and a touch of color.
